A Steady Advocate for Aging In Place

If you’ve ever felt reassured knowing someone is helping coordinate care behind the scenes, there’s a good chance that person is Kurtis Bacciocco. With more than two and a half years at Summit Vista, Kurtis plays a vital role in supporting residents’ health, independence, and peace of mind.

Kurtis was drawn to working with seniors because of a simple but powerful desire: to serve and give back to those who have contributed so much to younger generations. His over 20 years in healthcare — working his way from CNA to RN and holding roles all the way up to director of nursing — has brought him experience and a calm, knowledgeable presence in everything he does.

No two days look the same for Kurtis. His role involves responding to calls and emails, coordinating services after hospital or rehab stays, checking in with families, and collaborating with clinics, EMTs, and third-party providers. He connects residents with essential resources such as home health, hospice, private care, outpatient therapy, mobile medical services, What Kurtis enjoys most are the relationships. The friendships he’s formed and the life stories he hears make the work meaningful. counseling, dental and podiatry care, and more. He’s also always looking ahead, working to bring on-site audiology visits and mobility equipment maintenance as a way to make life even easier for residents.

At the heart of Kurtis’s work is helping residents “age in place.” By coordinating care and resources, he helps residents remain safe, supported, and comfortable in their own apartment homes and hopes his role provides reassurance that Summit Vista truly cares about each resident’s well-being and quality of life.

What Kurtis enjoys most are the relationships. The friendships he’s formed and the life stories he hears make the work meaningful. While caregiving can be overwhelming at times, what keeps him going is remembering the feeling that comes from truly helping someone when they need it most. Originally from West Jordan, Utah — just minutes from Summit Vista — Kurtis has a unique connection to the property, recalling a time when it was nothing but dirt hills he rode his bike on as a kid. Outside of work, life is busy and loud in the best way. With four teenage kids heavily involved in sports, much of his free time is spent cheering from the sidelines.

A fan of island reggae, all sports, and key lime pie, Kurtis brings dedication and heart to Summit Vista every day. And while his “Just do it” description of the community is brief, his actions speak volumes.

If you need support, Kurtis is always just a call away. He’s best reached on his cell at (801) 584-9810. Residents can also contact his office line at (385) 557-2323 or ask the front desk to transfer them.
