August 31, 2026
If you’ve ever arrived at an appointment feeling calm, enjoyed a sunny outing, or laughed along to good music on the way to lunch, chances are James Martin was behind the wheel. As Summit Vista’s Transportation Driver, James does far more than get residents from point A to point B — he helps make every journey feel comfortable and even a little fun.

James has been part of the Summit Vista family for nearly two years, and his days are anything but routine. From scheduling rides and driving residents to appointments, shopping trips, and lunch dates, to maintaining vehicles and helping set up special events, James keeps life moving (pun intended). His role plays a big part in relieving the stress residents may feel about getting out and about, especially when appointments feel overwhelming. Knowing he can help ease that 6 While he’s humble about it, James has even saved someone’s life — an unexpected fact that speaks volumes about his character. anxiety is one of the things James enjoys most about his work.

What truly sets James apart, though, is how he connects with residents. He loves swapping stories, sharing jokes, and bonding over music during drives. His patience, compassion, and willingness to listen shine through in every interaction. Residents often appreciate his sense of humor and the genuine care he brings to his role — qualities shaped by past experience, including working in a hospital’s mom and baby unit.

James is also refreshingly honest about his job. While he does his best every day, traffic and construction can sometimes cause delays. “I’m human and make mistakes,” he shares, noting that he understands how frustrating running behind can be and always does his best to communicate and keep residents relaxed.

Originally from Salt Lake City, James enjoys an active life outside of work. He loves sports — especially basketball and volleyball — along with hiking, road trips, poker, and movie nights. He’s also a fan of hearty comfort food like lasagna and peach cobbler.

And while he’s humble about it, James has even saved someone’s life — an unexpected fact that speaks volumes about his character.

When asked to describe Summit Vista, James doesn’t hesitate, “Passionate, fun, and family.” It’s clear that the love and caring nature of the community motivates him each day. And in return, Summit Vista residents know they can count on James — not just for a ride, but for kindness, conversation, and a steady presence along the way.
