Meet Your Neighbors: Carol Masheter
Have you ever met a world record holder? Or what about someone in her 70s who continues to climb mountains around the world? We’ve introduced you to some impressive neighbors at Summit Vista, and Carol Masheter is no different. In fact, she’s probably done more in the last 5 years of her life than the average person has in their lifetime.
Carol was born in Southern California and moved to the Salt Lake area in 1990, where she has lived for the last 27 years. Carol is the oldest woman in the world to summit the highest peak on each continent, known as the Seven Summits, making her a world record holder. When she isn’t hiking peaks, Carol spends her time writing. She has written two books and has also picked up free verse poetry, tinkered around with being a storyteller, and is now exploring the visual arts.
Carol is looking forward to living at a place like Summit Vista where there is opportunity to partake in as little or as much as she desires when it comes to activities and social interaction. She also looks forward to the multiple fitness classes offered at Summit Vista and for a safe place to ride her bike close to home. Carol predicts her future at Summit Vista to be fulfilling and successful, “I see myself here at 85, taking an aerobics class and then going to paint or write for a while … there are pretty interesting people joining this community. Folks that have lived in other parts of the world, have interesting professions, and continue to do compelling work around the town, and I hope to be one of those people, too.”
Welcome to Summit Vista, Carol, we are excited to have you!
