Meet the Goldens

October 11, 2017

A cowboy/Army man/pilot and an aerospace engineer move into Summit Vista… Are they your new neighbors?

Connie and Chuck Golden, originally from northern Illinois, like to do things a little differently than everyone else. During Chuck’s Army life, he spent most of his time in Korea, Texas, and Italy. One day, when his Army buddies were getting tattoos, he had the name “Connie” tattooed over the scar on his arm for the girl he was dating at the time. And while that relationship didn’t last, the tattoo did. But four years later that tattoo developed an entirely new significance. The beginning of their story started with a double date after he was discharged from the Army, and continued with a proposal three years later.

Both Connie and Chuck are scientific individuals receiving educations from some of the most prestigious institutions in the U.S. Connie was among the 1% of female aerospace engineers in the 60s where one of her favorite programs she worked on was the Hubble Space Telescope. Chuck also has many skills that include assembling cars, flying planes, and engineering.

After living in California for 50 years, the Goldens were persuaded to make the move to Utah to be closer to their daughter and family. When they did, they were faced with an important decision: Should they move to a continuing care retirement community (CCRC), now known as a Life Plan Community, or purchase a home? Five years ago there were no CCRCs in the area and no senior communities that appealed to them, so they purchased a home. Last fall Chuck came across a Summit Vista ad. He said, “Connie, it looks like our wait is over.” After re-evaluating their options, they concluded that Summit Vista had all the amenities that they were looking for. “Summit Vista offers all kinds of extra activities and services to keep our minds and bodies healthy,” said Connie. “If you add them all up, there’s just no place like Summit Vista.”
