Whether you are looking to enjoy some time for yourself or want to plan an adventure with friends, keep reading to see how you can experience the good life here in Utah.

Solo adventures

Who says you need to get a group together to have fun? There are plenty of options in the Salt Lake Valley for those wanting a little “me time.”

Stop and smell the roses. Nestled in the foothills of Salt Lake City, Red Butte Garden offers breathtaking landscapes inspired by the Utah desert. Or if you want a more cultivated botanical space, the Ashton Gardens at Thanksgiving Point includes daily garden walks with their resident horticulturists and the largest manmade waterfall in the United States.

Get an organic look at Utah life. Want to learn more about the region and our prehistoric origins? The Natural History Museum of Utah has exhibits for lovers of geology, archeology, dinosaurs, and more. If you prefer a more modern look at local life, The Utah Farmers Market Network helps you discover delicious, affordable produce and independent creators offering everything from jams to jewelry.

Enjoy a night in at Summit Vista. Who said you had to leave home to have fun? Our campus includes an arts and craft studio, woodworking space, pickleball courts, and more ways to elevate senior living.

Date night ideas

A special someone deserves a special outing. To help set the mood, here are some activities for you and a partner to enjoy together.

Take the scenic route. Hit the road and explore a bit of Utah’s natural beauty. Enjoy the bike trails and wildlife of Antelope Island State Park or take in the breathtaking fall colors of the Cottonwood Canyons. Make your day trip extra romantic by packing a picnic or partaking in one of Utah’s fine dining experiences.

Start a new hobby together. If you’ve ever thought about taking up birdwatching, you’re in luck — the Wasatch region plays host to a wide variety of birds during the migratory season. To get started, Tracy Aviary offers educational sessions to help you get started. Or you can download apps via your smartphone to identify and track your sightings. If you want to improve a skill instead, hone your gastronomic expertise by attending one of the many classes available at Salt Lake Culinary Education.

Enjoy an evening of live entertainment. Utah offers a wide selection of performing arts options for you to enjoy. For outdoor music, the nearby Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre hosts some of the biggest acts in entertainment each summer, while the Deer Valley Concert Series combines symphonic experiences with majestic views. Did you know the original American version of The Nutcracker has been performed by Salt Lake City’s own Ballet West since 1955? This classic tale has become a holiday tradition for generations of Utahns. And for theatrical fare, Hale Center Theatre offers Broadway-level quality performances on two state-of-the-art stages.

Fun with family and friends

A gentlemanly guide to fun. Utah is home to several world-class golf courses for you and your friends to test your skills. Less than fifteen minutes away from Summit Vista are two distinctly different golf courses, Stonebridge Golf Club and Murray Parkway Golf Course. If you prefer a laidback evening grabbing a pint with friends, The Utah Ale Trail can help you explore the growing craft brewery scene. Discover local taprooms, bustling brewpubs and a community of fellow beer enthusiasts.

Girls’ night out. Less than 15 minutes away from Summit Vista is the adorable Gardner Village. This step into the past offers boutique shopping and fun seasonal events, like the seasonal décor and themed events of WitchFest. Craving a more indulgent experience? The Grand America Hotel offers an afternoon tea perfect for the Jane Austen aficionado.

Getting out with the grandkids. Utah is very family-friendly, making it easy to find activities your whole crew will enjoy. Cross E Ranch has events throughout the year, such as their annual Sunflower Festival, along with a corn maze, apple cider doughnuts, and fall activities in October. For old-timey fun, hop aboard the Heber Valley Railroad. You can take the train to wizarding school each fall or experience the North Pole Express during the holidays.
